In­clement weath­er yes­ter­day caused sev­er­al land­slips and flash flood­ing in parts of north Trinidad. Sev­er­al land­slides were re­port­ed along the North Coast Road af­ter heavy rain­fall. Po­lice were al­so up to late yes­ter­day di­rect­ing traf­fic on the North Coast Road in an ef­fort to ease a mas­sive traf­fic build-up caused by the land­slides.

Chair­man of the San Juan/Laven­tille Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion, Nafeesa Mo­hammed, said there was al­so a land­slip five kilo­me­tres from the 'Pil­lars' in San­ta Cruz. "Our dis­as­ter man­age­ment team was con­tact­ed and Fire Ser­vices and Min­istry of Works were hav­ing some chal­lenges and we have dis­patched a team with a back­hoe and some work­ers to clear the land­slips."
