I fore­see two po­ten­tial prob­lems this rainy sea­son. The Tarou-ba Link Road, San Fer­nan­do, pro- ject has been on hold for the past two weeks. What has been done so far is the ex­ca­vat­ing of one lane of the ex­ist­ing road so that this lane is ap­prox­i­mate­ly four me­tres low­er than the oth­er lane. The cause of the slip prob­lem in this road is poor drainage and the con­trac­tor has done no work on this. With this mas­sive hole in the ground, rain wa­ter will ac­cu­mu­late and cre­ate a large pond. More prob­lems for the con­trac­tor and Tarou­ba peo­ple. Their sports ground will be in­un­dat­ed.

Sec­ond­ly, the slip prob­lem on Pointe-a-Pierre Road, Vista­bel­la, has thank­ful­ly been cor­rect­ed af­ter many years. But the con­trac­tor has cre­at­ed a drainage prob­lem in the riv­er by push­ing all the de­bris in­to it. Now the riv­er al­ways has ap­prox­i­mate­ly three me­tres of wa­ter. This riv­er usu­al­ly drained with the tide in the Gulf but does not any­more. The rains will cause mas­sive flood­ing along its banks, which is heav­i­ly pop­u­lat­ed. Time for pre­ven­ta­tive work or a lot of peo­ple will be dis­tressed and an­gry.
