I foresee two potential problems this rainy season. The Tarou-ba Link Road, San Fernando, pro- ject has been on hold for the past two weeks. What has been done so far is the excavating of one lane of the existing road so that this lane is approximately four metres lower than the other lane. The cause of the slip problem in this road is poor drainage and the contractor has done no work on this. With this massive hole in the ground, rain water will accumulate and create a large pond. More problems for the contractor and Tarouba people. Their sports ground will be inundated.
Secondly, the slip problem on Pointe-a-Pierre Road, Vistabella, has thankfully been corrected after many years. But the contractor has created a drainage problem in the river by pushing all the debris into it. Now the river always has approximately three metres of water. This river usually drained with the tide in the Gulf but does not anymore. The rains will cause massive flooding along its banks, which is heavily populated. Time for preventative work or a lot of people will be distressed and angry.
