T&T allrounder Kevon Cooper, is set to leave the shores of T&T along with countryman Samuel Badree to join the Uthura Rudras to play in the Sri Lankan Premier league set to bowl off on August 11. Cooper returned to T&T in May, after his recent stint with Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he fractured his knee while attempting a catch during in a match against Delhi Daredevils on April 29. When asked about his return to the game, Cooper said that he felt good to be cleared after two months out. "Yes it feels good to be cleared to play again. It has been a long while almost two months out of the game, I missed it and am really looking forward to Sri Lanka and playing good cricket," he said. The right hander believes it is an advantage to play competitively while with the Red Force is in preparation for South Africa: " I am using this to go out there and play hard to perform to the best of my ability.
"As I said before, my aim is to play for Trinidad and Tobago in the Champions league and hopefully we can do better than last year. I know the guys are training hard and we are looking forward to the Champions league in South Africa." Cooper who took four wickets and made just 14 runs in the IPL, revealed that getting injured in the IPL was difficult for him. " Getting injured was a bit difficult for me knowing that I love cricket and being out for two months was difficult, the rehab I went through took a bit out of me but thank God I am ready to go and looking forward to the upcoming matches." The Arima resident also took some time to comment on former schoolmate Sunil Narine. "I am very happy for him he's doing very well I hope he would continue performing as good as he does and hopefully he can learn a lot from what happens in this Test and I hope he goes from strength to strength." Cooper said. "I know the work his dad puts in with him even at Queen's Park or in the yard at home and he must be happy for Sunil and so I am."
