T&T's ladies main­tained their lead in the race for the George Teale Tro­phy when they se­cured a nine-stroke lead over Puer­to Ri­co on the sec­ond day of the RBC Caribbean Am­a­teur Golf Cham­pi­onships at the Roy­al St Kitts Golf Club yes­ter­day. Be­gin­ning the day just two points ahead, T&T were boost­ed by the per­for­mance of Moni­fa Sealy, who shot the tour­na­ment's on­ly be­low par round by a fe­male with a two un­der 69. Com­bined with Kelsey Lou Hing's 73, it gave T&T a sec­ond day score of 142 and over­all tal­ly of 294 (152 + 142).

They lead the Puer­to Ri­cans (303) and Cay­man Is­lands (319) for the top spot while Sealy and Puer­to Ri­can Maria Tor­res are tied for the in­di­vid­ual ti­tle with 145. Mean­while, the men's woes in the Ho­er­man Cup con­tin­ued, though they did man­age to jump from sev­enth to sixth in the eight-team tour­na­ment. With the best scores com­ing from Jes­sel Mo­hammed (77), Jake De­laney (78), Tal­in Ra­jen­dranath (81) and Alder­ray Downes (81), T&T pulled off a three shot im­prove­ment from their first day 320 with 317. Now on 637, they trail lead­ers the Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic (577), OECS (580), Puer­to Ri­co (590), Ja­maica (605) and Bar­ba­dos (616).

Among the Su­per Se­niors in the Hig­gs & Hig­gs Tro­phy, Fa­bi­en Lee Foon and Ar­jon Sam­lal re­mained in con­tention af­ter their sec­ond day 71 bumped them up from third to sec­ond place with a tal­ly of 145. They trail Puer­to Ri­cans Car­los Mar­tin and Elvin Gon­za­les Sr (143) while lead­ing Ja­maicans Den­nis Atkin­son and Opeton Mar­shall (148). The pair of Michael Com­mis­siong and Car­los Baynes was al­so on the as­cent, jump­ing from fifth to third in the Fran­cis Steele-Perkins Cup (Se­niors) with a sol­id round of 72. Now on 148 (76 + 72), they are just one shot be­hind Bar­ba­dos and the Ba­hamas, who share the lead­er­ship po­si­tion. (NC)
