The In­di­an Clas­si­cal Singers and Drum­mers As­so­ci­a­tion will host a grand clas­si­cal singing and tra­di­tion­al chut­ney show on In­de­pen­dence Day, at 3 pm at the Cou­va South Mul­ti-Pur­pose Hall, Cou­va. De­vanand Sookram, co-or­di­na­tor of the event said the ex­hi­bi­tion is be­ing held to mark the 50th an­niver­sary of this coun­try's In­de­pen­dence. "We feel that the con­cept of na­tion­al di­ver­si­ty is of para­mount im­por­tance to the de­vel­op­ment of a na­tion and a so­ci­ety, and we feel that this pro­gramme of our as­so­ci­a­tion will con­tribute in what­ev­er way pos­si­ble to pro­mote di­ver­si­ty and so­cial in­te­gra­tion," he said.

Some of the na­tion's top In­di­an clas­si­cal singers will be on the pro­gramme in­clud­ing, Jameer Ho­sein, Dubraj Per­sad, Mooni­lal Gild­harie, Ramesh Bas­deo, Vi­jai Ramkissoon, Bali­ram Bala, Rawl Ramjit Singh, De­vanand Sookram, Man­mo­han Go­sine and Lutch­man Per­sad. Drum­mers will in­clude Rishi Rag­bir, Randy Balka­ran, Bob­by Ma­haraj, Jagdeo De­bi­ram, Vin­od Gan­gaper­sad, Ravi Per­sad, Deo Nanan, San­jaya Yankata­su and Ash­ton Be­har­ry. "We en­cour­age the pub­lic to join with us to cel­e­brate our 50th an­niver­sary of In­de­pen­dence," Sookram said.
