Local boxer Prince-Lee Isidore will be given an opportunity to fight in the Caribbean Boxing Federation (Cabofe) tournament, in which the winner will receive US$660,000. The first loser gets US$20,000. Before that though, Isidore will face-off against Iwan Azore, a Guyanese residing in T&T. This 12-round deciding bout will take place in Guyana on October 28. According to special adviser to the T&T Boxing Board of Control, Boxu Potts, who was speaking at a press conference yesterday at Alicia's Palace in St Ann's, a number of local fighters are presently being given opportunities at the World Boxing Council (WBC) world titles.
If Isidore is successful at the Cabofe event, he will get a shot at the WBC junior welterweight world title. Ria Ramnarine will also contest for the WBC Silver Belt in either of three weight divisions-mini-flyweight, junior flyweight or flyweight-at the end of November. Lorissa Rivas will challenge African fighter, Charity Mukumie, for the WBC super middleweight world title.
