In delivering his contribution on the motion of censure against the Attorney General, Diego Martin Central MP Dr Amery Browne expressed regret for the role he played in voting in favour of the controversial Section 34. Browne said he was just being honest.
"I am very sorry that I voted on this particular bill. I regret my vote on this particular matter," he said in Parliament yesterday. The apology came after Browne was cautioned several times by Speaker Wade Mark for failing to connect the dots in his contribution and repeating what other members had said.
Mark asked the members to pay attention to Standing Order 43.1 since he did not want to stop anyone from speaking. "Don't argue with the Speaker," Mark warned Browne who tried to interject when scolded. "Rather than go on you are challenging me." Browne was also told to desist from implicating Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar in the motion since it was not about her but AG Anand Ramlogan.
