Police are appealing to witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation of the fatal stabbing of 14-year-old schoolboy Meshac Forbes on Friday night. Police believe the schoolboy of Cowen Hamilton Secondary School was stabbed during an argument over a girl with another teenager around the same age.
The stabbing took place near Forbes' home at?Samuel Cooper Trace, St Mary's Village, Moruga. The police report stated that around 7.30 pm Forbes' father Clinton Forbes was at home when he received a phone call that his son was stabbed. The father rushed down to the scene and took his son to the Princes Town?District Health Facility where the teenager was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said Forbes was stabbed three times with a knife. A woman living in the area said Forbes was liming with a group of men when he and the teenager began arguing. The men, Guardian was told, encouraged the young teenagers to fight. Investigators said no witnesses have come forward and people in the area were not being cooperative.
The alleged assailant has not been arrested since police have no evidence as yet to arrest him. Forbes lived with his father, who is deacon at a church in the village, and had 12 siblings. An autopsy is expected to be performed tomorrow at the Forensic Science Centre, Port-of-Spain.
Visiting the scene were Supt Maynard, Insp Williams, Insp Cooper, Sgt Ramdeen and other officers from the Homicide Bureau.
Investigations are continuing.
