The African Women As­so­ci­a­tion (AWA) held its sec­ond an­nu­al African His­to­ry Month cel­e­bra­tion last month at the Star­lift Pan The­atre, Mu­cu­rapo Road, St James.

Per­form­ers in­clud­ed the Star­lift Steel Or­ches­tra, the Bi­lan drum­mers, Roy­al Sweet-fin­gers Tam­brin Band of To­ba­go, Megan Wal­rond and the Xavier Sis­ters. A re­lease from the as­so­ci­a­tion said the evening was "tru­ly de­light­ful."

Pop­u­lar mu­si­cians Roy­al Sweet-fin­gers Tam­brin Band got pa­trons on the floor try­ing sev­er­al old-time dances like the "brush back"."

Young ca­lyp­son­ian Megan Wal­rond and Star­lift Steel Or­ches­tra were al­so crowd favourites but it was the sis­ter-duo Xavier Strings who thrilled the au­di­ence with its han­dling of the vi­o­lin. Those who did not know of the duo com­ment­ed about the ex­per­tise on the in­stru­ments.

The sis­ters' mu­sic brought to life the event's theme, Odo Nnyew Fie Kwan, which means love nev­er los­es its way home.
