Health Ministry gives Christmas eating tipsThe Ministry of Health is wishing the country a "healthy" Christmas. In a release yesterday the ministry is encouraging citizens to "fight the fat" this christmas and offered tips. "The Ministry of Health wishes to share a few tips for a healthy and safe holiday season and to encourage citizens to follow these tips to maintain their health and that of their loved ones."
The tips include advice to eat small meals throughout the day, eat healthily, eating before going out, filling up on water and making time for exercise. "Don't try to save room for one big meal by skipping breakfast, lunch or healthy snacks," the release stated. "Aside from making you hungrier, skipping meals and snacks negatively affects your metabolism."
The release advised combatting overeating by drinking lots of water throughout the day and choosing the healthiest food being served. "Have a light snack or cup of soup to control hunger. This will curb your appetite and give better self control when faced with high calorie choices.
"Carry around a water bottle or glass of water while at a party. Water fills you up and causes you to eat less while flushing out harmful toxins." It said the best way to avoid weight gain from Christmas to New Year is to stay on track with a regular exercise routine. "It's a busy time of the year for everyone, but don't lose sight of the bigger picture."
