T&T-born soprano Tahirah Osborne is scheduled to stage a Christmas recital on December 29 in Cascade. Osborne's show is entitled A Gift from Tahirah, and will feature appearances by Natalia Dopwell and John Thomas, with Sheldon Morales on piano.
Osborne may be known to local music lovers as a member of the Marionettes Chorale and Youth Chorale. She has won a number of awards in the Music Festival, including the Scotiabank Challenge Trophy for the most promising performer in 2008, and has sung at state banquets for luminaries such as the Prince of Wales and the President of Ghana.
Osborne won a national scholarship to study music at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she won awards for outstanding vocal and academic achievement. Since September she has been a chorister at the Royal Academy of Music/Kohn Foundation Bach Cantatas Series, and is set to sing the roles of Pamina and Zerlina in the Magic Flute and Don Giovanni respectively, in the upcoming Opera Scenes Concert at the Royal Academy of Music.
