Nurses at the South West Regional Health Authority shook off a hectic month filled with suspensions, deaths and lawsuits, when the Trinidad and Tobago Register Nurses Association held its 5th annual gospel concert on April 2 at the Naparima Bowl. Programme co-ordinator Patricia Francis said the show was dedicated to the nurses who have had experiencing difficult periods on the job. "Despite the sponsorship issues we have suddenly faced this year, we were able to keep the show," Francis said.
There was a spiritually arousing performance by Betty Ann Pilgrim, as she dedicated her songs to the nurses from the south west.
"Especially with what has been going through the media through the past month, we have learnt to get down on our knees," she said. Nurses in the Bowl erupted in cheers in agreement and appreciation.
But it was the Potter's Choir that stole the show with some scintillating performances. After the choir's performance there was thunderous applause and calls for encores. There were also top renditions by pannist Linus Salvador and violinist Harold Beckles. The St Stephen's Dance group made good use of its choreography, while Kirleen Dottin received a hearty reception from the crowd for her rendition of Alabaster Box. The audience was filled with nurse and their family from around the south and central region.
