Being in Guyana for a few days prevented me from doing my usual kind of Friday column. But, on my return home, I was presented with two sensational events to publicise. The month of May is regarded by most countries internationally as the month where mothers are recognised and several events are hosted throughout this month to celebrate our mothers.
On Saturday, May 21, in their second annual Tribute to Mothers event, Roy Cape All Stars presents-The Many Moods of Roy Cape-at the Salybia Nature Resort and Spa, Toco Main Road.On the billing are the All Stars' Blaxx, Rita Jones and Olatungi; Dil-e-Nadan, featuring Raymond Ramnarine; T&TEC Gayatones, featuring Oscar B and Avinash Maharaj; plus Benjai, Black Stalin, Rikki Jai and a number of guest artistes, in this premium all-inclusive event from 4 pm to midnight.
This annual fund-raiser continues to display the talents of Roy Cape for his incredible work over the last 50 years and beyond in the development, promotion and maintenance of Soca music, and to the establishment of The Roy Cape Musical Benevolent Fund to assist in the development of young musicians and Soca artistes in the local fraternity. I know you are interested in attending, so call 684-0557, 684-9147, 397-4508 or 691-3210 for bookings. Also ask about the weekend package special at the Resort.
