Chief secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Orville London says he is disappointed about the sequence of events which led to the collapse of the case involving the attack on British couple Peter and Murium Green. Speaking at yesterday's post executive council news conference, London said Tobago's credibility in the international tourism market was on the line. He also noted that detection and prosecution were important.
"All of us have to be aware that an island's credibility in the international tourism market is not just about crime or how much crime there is you must control that, but it is about detection and it is also about prosecution and I think what has transpired in the court earlier this week does not send a very positive signal about what has happened in Tobago" London said.
London said he supported any call for a serious investigation into the matter, since the message should be sent to the world that Trinidad and Tobago was a competent state where security was concerned. "Somebody fouled up somewhere and that is something that has to be ascertained and the necessary action taken and I am not just talking about punitive action, I am talking about remedial action and I am talking about action to remedy the reputation of Tobago," London added.
