T&T's senior men's water polo team rebounded from an opening day loss to powerhouse Iran with a commanding 9–4 victory over Tunisia at the third FINA Men's Water Polo Development Trophy Tournament in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Christopher Forte and Kris Thomas both registered hattricks for T&T in the win while Christopher George, Matthew George and Delano Otero added one each.
T&T's dominant performance was also made possible by a determined defensive effort from Christian Flook and co-captains Stuart Gillette and Gregory Joseph, the latter making some key saves in goal throughout the match. On Saturday, the T&T polo warriors, third two years ago in Kuwait, got off to a bad start with a 14-9 loss to the Iranians after trailing 7-6 at the half.
Goal scorers for the James Robertson-coached T&T squad were Christopher George (4), Matthew George (2), Otero (1), Thomas (1) and Forte (1). Yesterday, T&T was due to face Morocco, while today it faces Netherland Antilles followed by Kuwait in its final round-robin match. Algeria, Chile, Peru, Saudi Arabia and Singapore are in the other group.
