Why do insurance companies not pay the aggrieved party the total cost when there are repairs to be done after an accident? Their agent or inspector examines the damaged vehicle days after the accident and gives an estimate for repairs much lower than the repairer gives. This means that the person who is not in the wrong has to pay thousands of his own dollars to get the job done.
Is that the law although it is the common practice? The law should insist that the insurance companies have contracts with reputable garages, which will conduct the necessary repairs in a satisfactory way, and pay the whole bill. There should be a stipulated time frame within which the company has to act or it should be fined by a regulatory government body. A careful driver must not be made to pay for the carelessness of others.
