There's a new chef in town and he's been cooking up a storm at Ciao! Restaurant, the flagship eatery of The Normandie. Venezuelan Wilmar Alexander Mago is the latest acquisition at the St Ann's restaurant and, to put it in Trini parlance, "he has sweet hands." A Tasting Menu at The Normandie last week brought out Mago's best as guests were served a five-course dinner, each accompanied by a glass of wine.In addition to the house Sangria, wines served included a Rose, Chardonnay and Merlot from France, and Italy's Pinot Grigio.
Following the appetiser of Pak Choy Soup with chicken and parmesan, Mago served up a grilled tomato Capresa salad, followed by stuffed chicken, Mozzarella cheese Serrano ham, with champagne sauce. Then for a finale came strip loin medallions with a al Bernaise. For dessert there was Tiramisu or chocolate cake.In short, dinner at Ciao! was utterly divine.
