Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Chief Secretary Orville London is concerned about Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar's announcement that the Crown Point International Airport is to be renamed after former President and Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Arthur NR Robinson.London said all the groundwork is complete and the process is about to be finalised. He said a motion was brought to the assembly for the renaming of the airport and was unanimously voted on."A motion had been moved in the House and approved unanimously for the airport to be named the Arthur NR Robinson Airport," he said."Coming out of that, a committee was set up where the majority would have selected one person, the minority selected one person and I would have selected a chairperson.
"The committee reported quickly and they indicated the way forward."London said the process was near completion and all the stakeholders were on board. "The Chief Administrator, with Mr Allan Richards the chairman of the committee, would have operationalised the decision and they have reached quite a long way," he said."In fact, they have met with all the relevant authorities, the Civil Aviation Authority, the Airports Authority and, of course, the Ministry of Works and Transport and they are now at the point where they are just about to finalise the whole process."London said he was taken aback by the announcement by Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar.
