The Old Hilarians' Association (OHA) of Bishop Anstey High School (BAHS)) hosted its annual luncheon-Celebrating 90 Years of Excellence-at the school's Jubilee Hall, Keate Street, Port-of-Spain, on July 2. Among those present were principal Patsy Ann Rudder; past principal Stephanie Shurland; OHA president Wanda Bernard; Justice Monica Barnes; Dr Dorel Charles; Sharon Rowley; Carolyn John and several graduates. Special honoree was Ivy Walker. An ice carving, a popular feature on ships, proclaimed 90. Before the formalities, everyone feasted on a delicious meal, prepared by Johnny Kanor-Doublierand and his competent staff, consisting of smoked chicken drumsticks in chunky cherry preserve and roasted sirloin beef with mushrooms. Dessert consisted of chocolate mousse and creme caramel. Giggling like schoolgirls, they shared in the spirit of camaraderie and joie-de-vivre.
Of course, as it was in their scholastic time at school, the "rebel" section, each member a success story professionally, was in attendance, in a privileged position on the stage of the auditorium. Around this table sat Ingrid Lashley, Dr Judith Gobin, Dr Vanessa Stewart, Lystra and Louise Fletcher, Barbara Lodge-Johnson, Nichola Armstrong, Cheryl Julien, Celisse Johnson, Marsha King, Youland Holder-Robinson, Margaret Philbert, and Jennifer Holder-Manuel. Each woman present expressed her pride at flying the Anstey flag. They celebrated their successes at economic, social, political and religious institutions. Not to mention, they looked forward to the school's 100th anniversary, a prestigious milestone which past principal Shurland advised to begin planning immediately. To round of a delightful day of bonding and fun, the women engaged in a boisterous session of karaoke singing organised by Dean Calder.
