Iere High School wicketkeeper batsman Stephen Katwaroo has been appointed to lead T&T's Under-19 squad during the TCL Group West Indies Under-19 Challenge, which will be hosted by Guyana from July 18 to August 15.The Challenge will comprise of a three-day tournament from July 18- August 6 and a limited overs competition from August 9-15.Along with batsman Kieron Joseph and allrounder Derone Davis, Katwaroo toured Dubai with the West Indies Unders 19s in April and then the US this month. The trio also contributed to T&T U-19s' success last season, when it won the limited overs tournament.
Queen's Park Cricket Club allrounder Akeil Hosein will serve as vice-captain, making his debut at regional Under-19 level along with the rest of the other players.Former national Under-17 coach Tarrandath Sammy has taken over from Tony Gray. Sammy had tremendous success with the T&T Under-17s over the years, winning three consecutive Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Tournament titles in Barbados, and he is aiming for similar results with the Under-19 team.
