Iere High School wick­et­keep­er bats­man Stephen Kat­wa­roo has been ap­point­ed to lead T&T's Un­der-19 squad dur­ing the TCL Group West In­dies Un­der-19 Chal­lenge, which will be host­ed by Guyana from Ju­ly 18 to Au­gust 15.The Chal­lenge will com­prise of a three-day tour­na­ment from Ju­ly 18- Au­gust 6 and a lim­it­ed overs com­pe­ti­tion from Au­gust 9-15.Along with bats­man Kieron Joseph and all­rounder Derone Davis, Kat­wa­roo toured Dubai with the West In­dies Un­ders 19s in April and then the US this month. The trio al­so con­tributed to T&T U-19s' suc­cess last sea­son, when it won the lim­it­ed overs tour­na­ment.

Queen's Park Crick­et Club all­rounder Akeil Ho­sein will serve as vice-cap­tain, mak­ing his de­but at re­gion­al Un­der-19 lev­el along with the rest of the oth­er play­ers.For­mer na­tion­al Un­der-17 coach Tar­ran­dath Sam­my has tak­en over from Tony Gray. Sam­my had tremen­dous suc­cess with the T&T Un­der-17s over the years, win­ning three con­sec­u­tive Sir Garfield Sobers In­ter­na­tion­al Schools Tour­na­ment ti­tles in Bar­ba­dos, and he is aim­ing for sim­i­lar re­sults with the Un­der-19 team.
