Don't 'Miss' out in the six-runner Claiming Stakes over six furlongs on Southwell fibresand tonight!
A fortnight ago, twice-raced Miss Medici progressed when a close third to Very First Blade in a five furlongs seller on the 'deep stuff' but both the first two have been well-beaten since. Has my stop-watch got it wrong? Perhaps, they were raced again too soon because I'm convinced Miss Medici has a good chance by process of elimination, my favourite modus operandi when analysing moderate races.
This is extremely poor fare but the fact Miss Medici can handle this unique surface and has been given sufficient time to recover, leads me into a sporting, speculative wager. Not one to 'Miss' and never forget 'faint heart never won fair lady!'
Quails Hollow is knocking on the door and it should finally open in the Maiden Stakes over 12 furlongs. Find one to beat William Hagas' charge and you'll have a good-priced winner. Despite extensive scrutiny it wasn't possible to nominate any one of eight rivals to extend, never mind beat this Beat Hollow colt, the mount of ultra-reliable Liam Jones, an 'under the radar' job-jockey. Just a question of acting on fibresand but, don't underestimate this fact. Stable-companion, Firebeam was a long odds-on failure back in April but has won twice since, at prestige venues. Fibresand is definitely a law unto itself, one of the reasons why I'd go to this particular Nottinghamshire venue just to watch them go to post.
Unfortunately, both racing channels do NOT respect the wishes of viewers and simply wont open a 'window,' despite several requests, preferring pointless previewing which usually prompts 'mute' on my remote! Earlier, Noverton could well make it third time lucky in the Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs at Yarmouth, where ground is forecast 'good to soft' following heavy, persistent rain throughout the Isles.
Noverian comes out similarly to both Our Gal and Crystal High, with the rest needing to improve considerably; this makes for a solid each-way bet.
