If you ex­pect­ed Cow­boys and Aliens to be a fail­ure, you were wrong. I am guilty of as­sum­ing it as a flop my­self, but maybe it was the state-of-the-art IMAX screen that made the ex­pe­ri­ence so amaz­ing. Cow­boys and Aliens blew me away, had me laugh­ing un­til my cheeks hurt, and on the verge of tears at some points. I re­al­ly was im­pressed. It might have been the ti­tle, or the con­cept, but I hon­est­ly had no in­ten­tion of watch­ing the movie for per­son­al rea­sons; I just wouldn't have. I must say that I'm glad I did. If you are an ac­tion lover, a west­ern film lover, a sci­ence fic­tion lover, or even just a love lover (ro­mance films) you need to watch Cow­boys and Aliens.

Dig­i­cel IMAX

The first IMAX movie-house in the Caribbean and the largest screen in the world, is def­i­nite­ly worth the $65 cost ($75 for 3D). I wouldn't rec­om­mend it for an or­di­nary night out or a ran­dom movie view­ing. For a spe­cial out­ing, how­ev­er, I would cer­tain­ly rec­om­mend it. A mind-blow­ing, high-de­f­i­n­i­tion cin­e­mat­ic break-through, Dig­i­cel IMAX shows their films on a 40- by 70-foot screen. The 3D is ab­solute­ly noth­ing like any­thing I've seen in the Caribbean and the sur­round-sound au­dio makes you feel like you're in the movie. Cow­boys and Aliens was not in 3D, but the qual­i­ty was still way above the bar of any oth­er cin­e­ma in the coun­try.

Cow­boys and Aliens

A man awak­ens with no mem­o­ry of who he is or why he's in the desert alone with a met­al bracelet on his arm. Ar­riv­ing at the near­est town, he finds out that he is in fact a want­ed man who goes by the name of Jake Lon­er­gan (Daniel Craig). Ar­rest­ed al­most im­me­di­ate­ly, but not with­out a good fight, he is sen­tenced to be tak­en to a San­ta Fe prison. On the night that he is to be tak­en away how­ev­er, an at­tack by what the lo­cals can on­ly iden­ti­fy as "demons," de­stroys a large part of the town and cap­tures many of the vil­lagers' loved ones. Jake, with his met­al bracelet, shoots down one of the en­e­my crafts. Re­al­is­ing that he is in fact need­ed, if even not want­ed, the towns­folk leave ar­rest­ing him to an­oth­er day. Along the way, many of the par­ty die in search of these "demons." Even­tu­al­ly join­ing forces with the likes of whom they nev­er thought they would-the war of worlds be­gins.

Con­clu­sion

I pur­pose­ly left out a lot of im­por­tant de­tails be­cause I think that the in­trigu­ing part of the movie is the sus­pense and sur­prise. All you re­al­ly need to know is that the movie it­self was very good. I was im­pressed with how well they kept the theme of the old west­ern style films, ex­cept with mod­ern ac­tors in mod­ern day. The mix of mod­ern-day sci­ence fic­tion and old­er west­ern style films was su­perb and on point. If you can see Cow­boys and Aliens in the Dig­i­cel IMAX cin­e­ma (ONE Wood­brook Place), I sug­gest you do. If not, I still urge you watch the film; you are al­most guar­an­teed to en­joy it.
