David So­bri­an, man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of Su­per­Pharm, told the Busi­ness Guardian last Thurs­day via e-mail that the state of emer­gency has im­pact­ed neg­a­tive­ly on the phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal chain. "The main im­pact on our busi­ness has been the loss of sales rev­enue due to the cur­tailed open­ing hours. Where we would nor­mal­ly close at 11 pm, we now have to close at 7 pm to al­low our em­ploy­ees suf­fi­cient time to get home af­ter com­plet­ing their clos­ing re­spon­si­bil­i­ties." So­bri­an es­ti­mates that the busi­ness would lose an es­ti­mat­ed $1.5 mil­lion in over the two-week state of emer­gency. Re­gard­ing its em­ploy­ees, So­bri­an said: "We nor­mal­ly pro­vide home trans­porta­tion home at 11 pm. We just send them home on the shut­tle ear­li­er now." On the sub­ject of over­time, he said, "We have am­ple labour to meet our needs now with the re­duced hours, so there's no need for any over­time."
