Imag­ine sam­pling au­then­tic dish­es from 33 coun­tries across the world in three hours. This is what the In­ter­na­tion­al Food Fes­ti­val host­ed by the Hon­orary Con­suls of the Con­sular Corps of T&T will be of­fer­ing to food lovers at the Hilton Trinidad on Oc­to­ber 8. Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar is the pa­tron. Proc­ceds of the fes­ti­val will go to­wards the Chil­dren's Life Fund, The Re­nal Dial­y­sis Unit at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex and the An­i­mal Wel­fare Net­work. The theme of the first an­nu­al event is "A World of Food...A World of Hope."

At the launch of the fes­ti­val at Cipri­ani Boule­vard, Port-of-Spain, Ital­ian con­sul Shi­ra Mo­hammed, con­sul of Pak­istan Am­jad Ali, Amer G Haidar con­sul for Lebo­nan and Dr Mon­i­ca David con­sul for Bar­ba­dos ap­pealed to the pub­lic to sup­port the wor­thy cause by pur­chas­ing tick­ets priced at $750 in aid of sick, un­der­priv­i­leged and dis­en­fran­chised chil­dren. Mo­hammed said the char­i­ta­ble event of­fers an in­cred­i­ble, di­verse buf­fet menu of ap­petis­ing cui­sine from the 33 na­tions which they rep­re­sent. The food pre­pared by Hilton's chief ex­ec­u­tive chef will cater for 1,000 pa­trons. "It's like go­ing around the world and savour­ing meals from 33 coun­tries in three hours," Mo­hammed said. Dish­es from Poland, In­done­sia, Philip­pines, Rus­sia to name a few will be served at five food sta­tions.
