Ch­agua­nas West MP Jack Warn­er has de­scribed de­trac­tors of the Gov­ern­ment as "demons" work­ing "morn­ing, noon and night" to see the down­fall of the Peo­ple's Part­ner­ship. Warn­er, who is al­so Min­is­ter of Works and In­fra­struc­ture, made the com­ment on Sat­ur­day night while ad­dress­ing guests at­tend­ing Di­vali cel­e­bra­tions in his con­stituen­cy. It was held at Pierre Road Recre­ation Ground, Char­lieville. Warn­er said Di­vail has come at a time when the world was fac­ing tremen­dous prob­lems. He said the glob­al eco­nom­ic prob­lems have un­doubt­ed­ly im­pact­ed T&T. He said un­em­ploy­ment and slow busi­ness were some of the spin-offs of a slow world econ­o­my.

Warn­er said de­trac­tors of the Gov­ern­ment were us­ing the world cri­sis to spread dis­con­tent in the land in a bid to see the Gov­ern­ment fall. He said one of the du­ties of the Hin­du faith was to fight the demons or "rak­shas" in the land. Warn­er said the prime min­is­ter and the MPs alone can­not do bat­tle against the demons of crime, un­em­ploy­ment, evil and an emp­ty trea­sury. He asked Hin­dus to keep a deya light­ed and pray for the coun­try to over­come the demons who want to see T&T fall in­to dark­ness.
