Works and In­fra­struc­ture Min­is­ter Jack Warn­er says he can give no as­sur­ance to the 400 con­trac­tors of the Pro­gramme for Up­grad­ing Road Ef­fi­cien­cy (PURE) who are now out of work.Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad Biss­esar has re­scind­ed a Cab­i­net de­ci­sion to ap­prove full con­tracts for the pro­gramme with the aim of re­struc­tur­ing it.Asked about the sta­tus of the pro­gramme, Warn­er said he did not know.

Speak­ing at the traf­fic man­age­ment con­sul­ta­tion at the Pe­nal/Debe Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion on Tues­day, Warn­er said:"Hon­est­ly I would like to tell you about the PURE pro­gramme but I re­al­ly don't know. It is re­al­ly one of those times that I can­not an­swer you."I on­ly have to sit and wait to see what de­vel­ops from PURE. But I can tell you that I am aware that there are some con­sid­er­a­tions be­ing giv­en at this point and as soon as they come to the fore, I will let you know."He said he was not aware why it was re­scind­ed.
