Gov­ern­ment sen­a­tor and pres­i­dent of the Fed­er­a­tion of In­de­pen­dent Trade Unions and NGOs (FI­TUN) David Ab­du­lah says his po­si­tion on the five per cent wage of­fer to trade unions has not changed.He said he stands with the Joint Trade Union Labour Move­ment against the im­po­si­tion of "a one-size-fits-all cap."

He said that is an at­tempt to frus­trate col­lec­tive bar­gain­ing.He is al­so gen­er­al sec­re­tary of the Oil­fields Work­ers' Trade Union.Ab­du­lah was ad­dress­ing the me­dia yes­ter­day at the Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Work­ers' Union Hall, Hen­ry Street in Port-of-Spain.

Last Fri­day, pres­i­dent of the Na­tion­al Union of Gov­ern­ment and Fed­er­at­ed Work­ers' James Lam­bert told protest­ing work­ers as­sem­bled at the Bri­an Lara Prom­e­nade in Port-of-Spain that the labour move­ment had giv­en gov­ern­ment three "voice­less trade union lead­ers."
