Collymore said the new CDEMA/IMPACS partnership was a direct legacy of the 2007 Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean. He said the MOU deepened the framework for better and speedier access to aid effective use of the disciplined services for crises. Williams said the phenomenon of natural disasters in the region demonstrated the need for the deepening of co-operation and co-ordination between civilian and disciplined services in the region. Major Colin Millington, director, Regional Intelligence Fusion Centre, said the MOU signified not only a collaboration between two key Caricom institutions but also the first step taken to integrate crime and security and disaster management in the region.
