National Association of Athletic Administration (NAAA) president Ephraim Serrette said T&T was approached to host the Games but refused. Serrette cited that it would be extremely difficult to host at the late hour. In a report on www.grenadabroadcoast.com, Serrette said there was a need for regional governments to assist in the staging of this year's meet. "This is because it involves consultation with the respective governments to assist in getting the venues ready for the championship and we are only three months away," he said. The local athletic boss admitted that coaches and athletes were expressing concerns because their programmes had been hampered. "This is what happens. Coaches do their programmes based on facility, venues and dates particularly for their athletes, but all these are in jeopardy because there is yet to be a date set for the Games." Serrette added that it would be extremely unfortunate if the Games had to be cancelled.
