While the first team is away competing in the regional T20 cricket series, the rest of the national players have been busy at work, hosting their first trial match geared towards the regional First Class series at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva. The two men sending notices to the national selectors at the end of the game are Merryboys left handed batsman Aneil Khanhai who stroked 143 and leg-spinner Emile Rajah who grabbed five wickets for 45 runs.
Kanhai, playing for the Emrit XI, scored 143 in his team's first innings score of 314. He faced 176 balls and struck 17 fours and four sixes. The Jaggernauth XI made 222 all out in reply with Nicholas Alexis scoring 76 and Nicholas Sookdeosingh 68. Rajah was the best bowler for his team taking five for 45. Batting a second time, Emrit's team reached 282 for seven when the match was called off as a draw. Among the runs were Yannick Ottley with unbeaten 54 and Dave Mohammed with 53 not out off 55 balls with four fours and two sixes.
