I am disgusted at the way the nursing staff at the Sangre Grande Hospital are being treated and made to feel inferior by the nursing administration. We are constantly being met with blatant comments and unprofessional remarks that make us wonder what has happen to the part of the Nursing Code of Ethics that relate to nurses and co-workers. While the uniform, earrings and hairstyles should be adhering to the Nursing Council regulations (which are way outdated), we don't only need comments on this but also on our hard work, our dedication to the best quality patient care, and our commitment to making this hospital one of the best in the world.
Many of us are being thanked and applauded each day by patients and their relatives for our excellent work. The nursing adminis- tration, however, in my opinion, seeks to demote this. Our reward however comes in these comments and not the treatment from our superiors. "Thank you, how are you, is there anything I can help you with, if you have any problems feel free to come to us" are some of the preferred comments that I am sure the nursing staff would appreciate and be comfortable with.
