Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar was a no-show at the UNC's Dol­lar Fete on Sat­ur­day.It was just af­ter mid­night dur­ing the fete that the me­dia was told by par­ty of­fi­cials that the PM would not be at­tend­ing to greet the thou­sands who braved the mud and rain to at­tend the high­ly-pub­li­cised event held on the grounds of the of­fices of the Cou­va South MP on Cam­den Road.

An air-con­di­tioned tent, com­plete with a ban­quet of au­then­tic In­di­an food and plush fur­ni­ture, had been pre­pared for Per­sad-Bisses­sar and her en­tourage.The par­ty be­gan around 10 pm with­out any for­mal­i­ties or open­ing ad­dress­es from any of the politi­cians present.Chair­man of the UNC-Works and Trans­port Min­is­ter Jack Warn­er-the man who start­ed the Dol­lar Fete since the UNC was in op­po­si­tion, was not present. He left T&T for Zurich.Pa­trons said they were pleased with the fete and were look­ing for­ward to next year's event.
