Daystar Swift snd Kielle Con­nel­ly reeked hav­oc on the De­fence Force team as the de­fen­sive duo played key roles in help­ing the Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) past the net­ball pow­er­house, by 30 goals (57-27) on Sat­ur­day. This was in the Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion of the Courts All Sec­tore Net­ball League at the East­ern re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na in Tacarigua.

Swift and Con­nel­ly worked as­sid­u­ous­ly in the cir­cle pre­vent­ing De­fence Force shoot­ers Kar­lene Sylvester and Anasta­cia Wil­son, a na­tion­al shoot­er, much chances at the goal. Sylvester net­ted on­ly 11 goals from 20 at­tempts and Wil­son con­nect­ed 16 off 25 tries. Of course the ef­forts of goal-shoot­er Janelle Bark­er and goal-at­tack Jil­lisa Al­lan can­not go un­men­tioned as the shoot­ing cou­ple held their own at the oth­er end of the court.

Al­lan post­ed 30 from 42 and Bark­er added the oth­er 27 goals from 34 at­tempts as the Brid­get Adams-coached UTT team led from the first pass and dom­i­nat­ed play for each of the third quar­ters - 13-10, 30-14, 42-21-be­fore clos­ing out with the large mar­gin of vic­to­ry. In the oth­er match of the di­vi­sion, Fire X burned Po­lice 45-37. The fire­women were pi­lot­ed by six-foot­er Afeisha Noel (24/33) and Joelisa Coop­er (21/27). Gur­shi­er Grant poured in 22 goals from 28 at­tempts, to emerge the top shoot­er for the los­ing Po­lice unit, who used four shoot­ers over­all. Eu­phemia Hug­gins (8/12), Shiv­aughn Skeete (1/3) and Raquel Rus­sell (6/9) were the oth­ers shoot­ers.
