Consumers in central and south Trinidad will experience a delay in the resumption of their regular water supply, the Water and Sewerage Authority(WASA) said in news release yesterday. Water production at a desalination plant in Point Lisas was interrupted last week for maintenance and expansion work. The plant returned to full service on Saturday but failed to continue operations due to a secondary issue arising.
Areas affected include Penal, Debe, Quarry village, Santa Flora, Fyzabad, Avocat, La Brea, Sobo, Saltmine, Timital, Gasparillo, welcome Road, Phoenix Park, Caratal, Bucarro, Forres Park, Plaisance Park and Charlieville. WASA said the temporary water supply schedule which had been previously put into effect for these areas would remain in force until the situation goes back to normal. A limited supply of truck-borne water will be made available, with priority given to healthcare institutions, special homes and schools.
