Tyro Sports Club will host the 2011 Off-Season BGTT Football League from March 12 at the Bourg Mulatresse Recreational Ground, Santa Cruz. It will be a traditional "11-a-side" tournament consisting of four groups with five teams per group. The league will end on April 25, with cash prizes and trophies at stake to group winners and the top four finishers of the league overall. There will also be individual awards.The team that wins the league will be awarded the grand prize of $5000 along with a challenge trophy. Trophies will also be awarded to the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, manager, captain, as well as the best uniformed team.
The league's Most Disciplined Team will also be awarded a cash prize of $500 along with a trophy.Each team may field 11 players and have five substitutes on the bench. The team may also field a completely different group of players for each game as the maximum number of players that any team may register is as much as 400. The organisers said that "no matches will be postponed, none".The fee to register a team $400 and the deadline to do so is on March 9. There will also be an officiating fee of $70 per team, per game.
Tyro seven-a-side football
Tyro Sports Club, will also host two seven-a-side leagues beginning on the same day as the Off-season Football League, at the Bourg Mulatresse "Gabba" Recreational Ground, Santa Cruz with an Open League and a 40 and over league. The two leagues, however, will conclude on April 23.The fields used for these leagues will be smaller than the traditional grounds and fitted with hockey-size posts.The Open League will consist of two groups with ten teams in each group. The 40 and over league will have two groups with seven teams in each.
Group winners along with the top four placed finishers, as well as the Most Disciplined Team will be awarded cash prizes and a trophy.The winning team will be handed $3000 and a challenge trophy. There will also be a prize for the Best Uniformed Team, as well as a prize for the player with the most goals.Registration for each team $300 in either league and the deadline for full registration is on March 9.As with the Off-Season Football League, each team can field a completely different squad on any match day.Each team is allowed to register up to 300 persons.For further information contact Zoff at 764-4497.
