There was no shortage of live entertainment at the Central Bank all-inclusive fete last Saturday, as several top bands and artistes graced the stage. But it was special guest performer, David Rudder, who stole the spotlight as he took a very appreciative audience on a trip down memory lane with his catalogue of hits. As rags and mugs were waved in the air, King Rudder delivered classics such as Calypso Music, The Hammer, Dust in Dey Face, Madness, and the ever popular High Mas.
Before he hit the stage, Rudder disclosed that he was pleased to be performing at the event again, and that he looked forward to singing for his hometown crowd at other events for the 2011 season. Benjai, Karma, Skinny Fabulous, Destra Garcia, Swappi, Roy Cape All-stars and Iwer George, were among the artistes who entertained patrons. The atmosphere was festive, with a variety of culinary options, including gourmet doubles, bake and shark and geera goat. Added to these, was a Central Bank fete staple, stewed horse meat, rare treat that proved to be ideal for several adventurous appetites.
The major all-inclusive Carnival event was held under the patronage of the Governor of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago, Ewart Williams. The famed fete celebrated its eleventh year, and was moved from its usual Friday evening time slot to become a Saturday night affair. This revamped time and layout proved to be a welcomed change with the Central Bank regulars, as the event literally shut down the entire lower portion of St Vincent Street between Independence Square and South Quay with hard-partying patrons.
