Winner of the 2011 Academy Awards "Best Picture" and "Best Director", the King's Speech is a royal, historical drama that tells the tale of King George VI of Britain and his unlikely ascension to the throne.
The story line revolves around the relationship between the King who is referred to as "Bertie" and his speech therapist, Lionel Logue. The plot is simple and wonderful to follow, showing how "Bertie" struggles with a speech impediment and how it leads to his surprise an unexpected friendship with Lionel.
The movie progresses with an insight into the lives of both characters seeking to illustrate the ability of one to overcome life's obstacles, learn lessons of courage, gain friends and to be elevated suddenly into a position of greatness. Throughout the movie one would be captivated with the emotion of both characters, catch a glimpse of regal life in the mid twentieth century and be moved by the dramatic story portrayed by award winning actors, all in all, making "The King's Speech" a must see movie.
