It was Christmas in calypso and pan country at the Queen's Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, on November 12, with the hosting of Christmas with Steelpan and Calypso. The event was a production of the National Carnival Commission (NCC) in collaboration with Pan Trinbago, and under the auspices of the Ministry of Arts and Multiculturalism, and ran from December 9 to 12.
Two bands were scheduled to play each night, and play they did, but on the final night, pan lovers were treated to the sweet, exhilarating sounds of Starlift, Arima Golden Symphony and Couva Joylanders. Based on the performances, it is safe to say that the future of pan is in good hands. Seen at the event were Trade Minister Stephen Cadiz, cultural advisers Errol Peru, Sayeed Emamali and several cultural icons.
