Five days af­ter he was re­port­ed miss­ing, the de­com­posed, naked body of a San Fer­nan­do car­pen­ter has been found spread-ea­gled at Em­bac­cadere, San Fer­nan­do. Po­lice be­lieve Den­nis Ren­nie, 37, was chopped to death and his body dumped in bush­es close to Roodal Ceme­tery. It was found by his broth­er, Mitch Ren­nie, short­ly af­ter mid­day yes­ter­day. Ren­nie's un­cle, Ian, said the body bore chop wounds on the el­bow and fin­gers. There were al­so marks of vi­o­lence on the neck and head.

Ren­nie's moth­er, Pa­tri­cia, said he was last seen alive on Mon­day. She said for four days they searched the near­by apart­ment build­ings, hop­ing that he would turn up. Wip­ing away her tears, Pa­tri­cia sobbed, "Why they do this to my child? He didn't do any­body any­thing. The on­ly thing he used to do is drink. These peo­ple wicked." Pa­tri­cia said she be­came wor­ried about Ren­nie's where­abouts when he did not re­turn home around 11 pm.

"That night I went to bed think­ing he will soon come home, but he didn't come back Tues­day, Wednes­day or Thurs­day, and so we went to the po­lice and made a re­port. The po­lice said they will search for him." The fam­i­ly then be­gan their own search­es. His broth­er Mar­lon said he be­lieved a res­i­dent killed Ren­nie, and al­leged that a man of­ten pestered them for mon­ey. Po­lice said yes­ter­day they were work­ing on sev­er­al leads. The body was re­moved to San Fer­nan­do mor­tu­ary, where an au­top­sy will be done. ASP Ce­cil San­tana and of­fi­cers of the South­ern Di­vi­sion Homi­cide Bu­reau are con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
