T&T based Guyanese lightweight boxer Shawn Corbin failed in his attempts to claim the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Intercontinental title on Saturday night in Berlin, Germany. The 34-year-old World Boxing Council (WBC) Cabofe and World Boxing Empire (WBE) world champion was stopped, via a technical knock out, in the second of the 10 round bout by champion home boy Karo Murat.
This was Corbin's third fight outside of T&T and it resulted in him suffering his second defeat in his 15 fights, after being beaten by Tito Mendoza of Panama in 2007 at home. Corbin's record now stands at 13 wins, nine by knockouts and two defeats, while Mutat improved his unblemished record which now stands at 21 wins, 14 by knockout.
