T&T based Guyanese light­weight box­er Shawn Corbin failed in his at­tempts to claim the World Box­ing Or­ga­ni­za­tion (WBO) In­ter­con­ti­nen­tal ti­tle on Sat­ur­day night in Berlin, Ger­many. The 34-year-old World Box­ing Coun­cil (WBC) Cabofe and World Box­ing Em­pire (WBE) world cham­pi­on was stopped, via a tech­ni­cal knock out, in the sec­ond of the 10 round bout by cham­pi­on home boy Karo Mu­rat.

This was Corbin's third fight out­side of T&T and it re­sult­ed in him suf­fer­ing his sec­ond de­feat in his 15 fights, af­ter be­ing beat­en by Tito Men­doza of Pana­ma in 2007 at home. Corbin's record now stands at 13 wins, nine by knock­outs and two de­feats, while Mu­tat im­proved his un­blem­ished record which now stands at 21 wins, 14 by knock­out.
