Hinds, Cure cool down Temperature

Barbadian soca diva Alison Hinds gave a scintillating performance at the Temperature 3 concert last Saturday, at the Queen's Park Oval, Woodbrook. The show, which was supposed to be the biggest Carnival show for the season, certainly kept it's promise. Despite the non appearance of Vybz Kartel, aka Adijah Palmer, the show went relatively smoothly.

The announcement that the artiste was not going to be performing was made after the appearance of Jamaican acts Sheeba and Lisa Hyper, who tried to competently sing three of Vybz Kartel's hits. The two went back stage and were seen whispering before they came back out to make the announcement. Loud jeers of disappointment echoed throughout the crowd. The two women were backed by KMC's Red, White and Black band. The other artistes on the bill, however, made the show worthwhile.

Peter C Lewis and The Orchestra started the night's action and featured recently crowned Synergy Soca Star Five winner Machel "Metro" Pierre. Also performing with the band was former National Junior Calypso Monarch Megan Waldron and Ricardo Drew. The HD Family, which followed Traffik, has certainly matured with the season. Also performing with them was General Grant, who sang some of his oldies like Shot Call and Pure Hate.

As thousands continued to file into the venue, Alison Hinds invited reggae artiste Jah Cure on stage.

The reggae star collaborated with Hinds on a soca remix to his song Call on Me. Much to the approval of everyone who invited Jah Cure on stage with loud applause, Hinds had the artiste singing and dancing with her in true Carnival style. Hinds dubbed him "Soca Cure."
