Switzerland's Franco Marvulli of Team Beacon capped off a dominant night for the international cyclists when he won the Beacon T&T Cycling Festival All Stars Survivor Invitational 40-lap ride on the concrete tracks at Skinner Park, San Fernando on Saturday night. The 31-year-old Marvulli made up for his disappointing showing in Thursday's 14-lap Queen's Park Savannah ride with a commanding performance. A surprising second placed finisher was local junior competitor, Varun Maharaj of Modanna Wheelers to add to his fifth place in the Savannah ride.
Third was Argentine Dario Pagliaricci, followed by local favourite Emile Abraham also of Team Beacon. The win for Marvulli was the second on the night as he earlier won the Devil-Take-The-Hindmost ahead of Germany's Leif Lampater, Abraham and Martin Ferrari of Argentina. Lampater had much better fortune in the ten-lap as he secured his maiden victory, relegating Argentine Sebastien Donadio to second place. Canada's Stephane Cossette and Abraham completed the top four finishers.
Abraham was also a silver medal winner in the first All Stars event, the eight-lap ride behind American Davis Wiswell while Team Foundation's King Ettienne took bronze. The other win for the international cyclists on the night came via USA's Giddeon Massie in the Ian Artherly All Star 500 metres Sprint. Second was Cossette while local boy, Christopher Sellier of Team Beacon, was third. The series continued at the Arima Velodrom yesterday and will resume on Thursday with the Tobago 14-lap ride around Market Square in Scarborough from 4pm, before Saturday's final day at King George V Park, St Clair from 2pm.
