Of the two Police teams that are competing for the Pearl Francis Division (PFD) title in the Port-of-Spain Netball League, the A team emerged the more dominant after crushing the B unit on Monday evening.
The winner recorded a 57-25 victory in the final of four matches played at the Jean Pierre Complex in Mucurapo. Former national player Euphemia Huggins, the goal-shooter, was unmarkable as she raced to 53 goals from 69 attempts for the victors in the one-sided affair. The B team never truly found its rhythm and trailed throughout the encounter – 16-9 in the first period , 31-16 at the half and, 50-23 in the third session.
Beverly Hernandez was the most productive of the three shooters used by the losing squad, connecting 18 off 24. Earlier, Horizon registered its own one-sided win not yielding a goal against Arima United in its 16-0 whipping in their Barbara Burnette "B2" Division. Malvern also sealed a victory in that division, beating CS Jets, 6-3. The Malvern club also had its second beginner's team claiming victory in the Barbara Chandleur Division. It defeated CS Jets, 6-3.
