Team Foun­da­tion's Adam Alexan­der be­came T&T's first ever Om­ni­um cham­pi­on when he won its in­au­gur­al stag­ing on the last day of the Na­tion­al Cy­cling Cham­pi­onships at the Ari­ma Velo­drome yes­ter­day. Alexan­der, who is ranked 19th in the world in the mul­ti­ple race event, beat his na­tion­al team­mate Haseem McLean (sec­ond) and Shel­don Ramjit (third) to nab the gold.

It marked the 24-year-old's sec­ond gold medal of the Cham­pi­onships af­ter he and Foun­da­tion's Roger Mal­co, King Et­tiene and David Hay rode to the Team Pur­suit ti­tle on Tues­day. Mean­while, Varun Ma­haraj won the Ju­nior Om­ni­um ahead of Justin Roberts and Chris­t­ian Fai­ley, who placed sec­ond and third re­spec­tive­ly. (NC)
