Boosted by his team's win in the First Citizens Cup final over Defence Force, bmobile Joe Public midfielder Trent Noel says his team is keen to defend its five titles won last year under coach Derek King. Noel hit the post in regulation time, which ended 1-1. He also hit the cross-bar in the penalty-kicks as his team won 3-0 in the shoot-out to register its first ever lien on the title. This after losing in the 2008 final against W Connection and last year versus Defence Force. Speaking during his team's celebrations Noel shouted, "This is one title, and we still have five to defend."
Last season's five title haul included the Digicel Pro League Championship, Big Six, FA Trophy, Toyota Classic and Digicel Pro Bowl. Noel's comments were echoed by coach Derek King who said his team is keen on defending its trophies won last year. "We want to defend our titles and qualify for the Concacaf Champions' League again. "With the experience we gained this season in Concacaf tournament, we can say that next time it will be a great show, " added King who picked up the Coach of the Tournament award after the win over Defence Force.
Reflecting on the performance against Defence Force, King said, "It was an outstanding Final. "Both teams didn't really give away anything. But at the end of the day we put down the football and play. "One mistake cost us a goal but we really showed a fight and I want to thank the players, the staff Ralph Nelson, Rajesh Latchoo...David Prince...the entire management team. "It was really outstanding," he continued. "This was a clash of the top two clubs in the Pro League. Our preparation during the week was working on our opponents and on Saturday we showed excellent ball movement and personally I think we should have come away with a 3-1 win.
