President of the Secondary Schools Cricket Council and former executive member of the T&T Cricket Board (TTCB), William Wallace has hit back at claims made by current National Cricket Academy facilitator Kumar Rampath, that the Academy was closed down by the Deryck Murray-led cricket administration. Rampath was quoted recently as saying: "I was involved in the first programme a couple of years ago and I thought that it was a fantastic idea. The last administration stopped the programme and I thought this was absurd."
However, Wallace counteracted by saying: "The Murray administration never stopped the academy, in fact when we took over the cricket after one year in office we re-started and when I came into the board in 2006, I was put in charge of the academy. "In fact when one checks it out, the academy was stopped in 2004, which was the last year that the Ellis Lewis administration was in power. I just want to put these facts out there so that the people would know the truth."
