A stroll to the nearby parlour for a drink turned out to be a fatal decision for a Maloney teen on Sunday after he was shot multiple times.
According to police reports, Kerdeem Patterson, of Building 20, Maloney Gardens, Maloney, was found bleeding in a car park at Building 15 around 4.30 pm after residents heard a volley of gunshots.
Patterson was taken to the Arima Health Facility where he died while being treated. Investigators said they had no motive for the teen's murder.
One officer said he might have been killed because the killers in the Maloney area don't care who they killed as long as they satisfied their urge to shoot someone.
The officer said Patterson was not known to be involved in any criminal activity.
One of the people hearing the shots was the teen's mother who had moments earlier finished combing his hair.
Virginia Patterson told the media yesterday at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, her child, a plumber by trade, was a "very loving boy.
"I had just finishing combing his hair and he told me that he was going to get something to drink. When he left I heard the shots. When I heard them I remembered that he had just gone outside. I decided to go out there and see what happened when I reached I saw him lying on the ground," she said.
