The T&T Cricket Board has joined with a reputable local charity organisation to assist the unfortunate people of Haiti, recently affected by Hurricane Matthew which has left more than 1,000 dead and hundreds of thousands homeless.
The effort to bring relief to the Haitians, still reeling from a disastrous earthquake in 2010, is in conjunction with ITNAC (Is There Not a Cause?), a non-profit organisation registered in T&T which has been leading relief efforts locally, regionally and internationally since 2002.
It is headed by Avonelle Hector Joseph and her husband Christopher, with Beverly Loobie-Alleyne listed as one of its founders.
According to Neisha Wildman, co-ordinator for the Central Zone of the TTCB, collection centres for food, clothing and drinking water have been set up while monetary donations can also be made into two established bank accounts.
Wildman said that people wishing to make a contribution can drop off their packages at the headquarters of the TTCB at Balmain, Couva, or at Bachac's Auto Barn at 52 Southern Main Road, Enterprise, contact number 289-3480.
She said all those who wish can make financial donations to the following bank accounts:
Republic Bank (#510009446802)
First Citizens Bank (#1660410).
Also lending support to the effort is Shazahra Leia Khan of Guardian Life's south office.
