In these times when the police service personnel are being knocked to the ground, I would like to put in my two cents and urge the public to not paint all officers with the "lazy and corrupt brush" and I have a true example of officers taking pride in their work while putting their lives on the line.
To support the foregoing I will relate my story as follows:
On Wednesday, April 15, 2015, I received a call from family members who reside in Canada. Apparently, they received a disturbing call from another family member who is visiting Trinidad. When they answered the call they could only detect what appeared to be a person screaming and then the connection went dead.
They tried to call back the relative, both on his mobile and land line, but there was no response. Naturally, given the many crime situations which regularly occur, they immediately called me to inform the police accordingly and seek their assistance.
I called 999 and made my report and it was within an hour that policemen were at the house investigating what could be happening or happened.
I would like to thank Sergeant Joseph and his team from the Arouca Police Station for their swift response and the professional service/attitude which was extended to me and my family on that night which ended thankfully without loss of life or injury.
