I have supported different political parties at different times in my life hoping for better infrastructure, education, reduction in food prices and the list goes on, but what I have observed as I reflect, is that many politicians made promises and did not deliver, and we were left wanting and in a dormant state as the government of the day took care of business as usual and forgot about all the promises that were made on the political platform and elsewhere when the election is won and over with. Then came the People's Partnership who, made up of different factions of society, started off Government with great enthusiasm and fervor.
Many mistakes were made during the five years of governance and many things were accomplished.
Ministers came and ministers went; scandal and what ever else; but in comparison to the governments that were previously in power, Mrs Kamla Persad-Bissessar and her Government has done the most for the people of this country thus far. Crime and health care is still a work in progress.
I am thankful for what has been done and what is continuing to be done for the well-being of our citizens. I live in an area where we have most of the necessary facilities, but I am happy for those who did not have for their entire lives and got water, lights, roads, homes, community centres, recreation grounds, better health facilities etc.
This Government would not be able to please everyone but for the people and communities they were able to bring happiness to, I thank them for it.
